Today, we’re speaking to Jo Soley, business angel, and well, all-round angel really. Jo helps heart-centred female entrepreneurs achieve results. We ❤.

#1. So, what’s your favourite word?

Authentic

#2. What gets you up in the morning?

The love that I have for my business and my clients. And the alarm clock.

#3. We’re feeling you. What do you truly, honestly think of social media?

It’s changed the way we live and work. I believe we’re blessed to have tools that can feed our business and extend our reach so greatly. I love Facebook!

#4. Mr Mark Zuckerberg says thanks. Kindles or books?

Books. Never had a Kindle and never had an urge to get one.

#5. Kindle-free zone, it is then. What do you think is the biggest challenge to your industry right now?

We’re bombarded with so much information on a daily basis, in fact, we are subjected to 85% more than our grandparents’ generation.  I think it’s all about using technology to be the pattern interrupt.  For example, people do business if they, know you, like you, and trust you so it’s all about relationship marketing. You need to be as authentic as possible.

#6. What did you want to be when you were growing up?

An air hostess.

#7. Campari and lemonades all round! What led you to your current career?

After receiving my degree in retail, I became a buyer, then I worked overseas for 10 years as a trading controller, I moved to Devon and became a Business Development Manager in an adventure park in Devon.  In June 2014, I set up on my own.

#8. Can you use your favourite word in a sentence?

Trust grows from authenticity.

#9. Now can you make it rhyme?

Authenticity and serendipity!

#10. Is such a fortunate happenstance. One for the Horace Walpole fans out there. What advice would you give to your younger self?

Relax, Jojo!

#11. Great advice there. What’s the best thing anyone’s ever done for you?

My grandparents were incredibly loving, generous and taught me so much.

#12. May everyone be blessed with such grandparents. Tell us, what’s been your ‘career-defining’ moment?

I won a Women Inspiring Women award – part of Damsels in Success.

#13. If you won a big award of some kind, who would you thank?

My mum. She’s my rock.

#14. Can you give us a timesaver of the day?

Every morning I write down my three MITs (Most Important Tasks). I don’t deviate from those otherwise you get lost in emails and social media.

#15. Where do you see your industry in 24 months?

Relationship marketing has to be the way forward. More videos, more Facebook Live’s, more personality and relationship-based content.

#16. Where were you 24 months ago?

In Exeter, working one-to-one with female business owners.

#17. What’s an interesting fact about your company?

I’m launching workshops next year, based around my 7 step checklist to Make Your Business easy.

#18. If you could have a 24-minute Skype chat with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?

Oprah. I’ve just read her book, What I know for sure, and she is just so inspirational.

#19. What’s one word you’d want people to describe you with?

Honest.

#20. Would you mind taking a selfie for us?

Here you go.

#21. What’s your favourite Twitter handle or social media campaign?

#100Women – it focuses on sharing the stories of women around the world, in eight languages across Twitter and Facebook. It’s thought-provoking to see all these local heroines from all walks of life – such diversity…

#22. What’s one quote that defines your work ethic?

Nothing works unless you do. Maya Angelou

#23. Wise words indeed. What’s been the best part of your day?

I unpacked nine boxes as went to my lock up in Devon yesterday. Result.

#24. *fist pump emoji* Finally, anything to plug?
