Client Success Manager at Nuvi and all-round charming man, meet Samuel Poulsen. He wanted to be a Spanish teacher and built his own house. Impressed? Read on…

#1 What’s your favourite word?

Well, it’s actually two. Can I go with ‘all good’?

#2 Just this once. What gets you up in the morning?

That fact that I’m alive and can wake up, can live today. That’s always pretty exciting.

#3 What do you truly, honestly think of social media?

Well, I actually think that’s it’s pretty rough that people don’t understand that for businesses, it’s necessary and can be difficult. It’s changed our world.

#4 Kindles or books?

Books.

#5 What do you think is the biggest challenge to your industry right now?

I really appreciate this question. I think the biggest challenge, and not just for businesses, is not the having a presence, it is managing it, leveraging the presence.

#6 What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A Spanish teacher.

Wow! How come?

Well when I was young, my family travelled to Mexico a few times on humanitarian trips. I loved the people and the culture wanted to travel and speak the language. Later, I served a mission in Chile and I just really appreciate the South American culture.

#7 What led to your current career?

Reading international business at college. What I studied allowed me to take this job which involves interacting and consulting with clients all over the world.

#8 Can you use your favourite word in a sentence?

It’s all good, no stress.

#9 Now, can you make it rhyme?

Hmm. You’ve got me on that one! It’s all good, no stress, do what you can, don’t worry about the rest…?

#10 Impressed for the second time. What advice would you give to your younger self?

Give everyone you meet the benefit of the doubt. Everyone is struggling for different reasons, be kind. Oh, and I’d probably add, read more.

#11 What’s the best thing anyone’s ever done for you?

That’s a big question. You know, probably my dad, teaching me to be accountable.

#12 Tell us, what’s been your career defining moment?

Well, I’ve had career highlights but probably not one defining moment yet. I was a superintendent for a job I loved, and my college degree was a highlight.

#13 If you won a big award of some kind, who would you thank?

My wife. She never lets me settle and I find that highly motivating. Irritating, but highly motivating!

#14 Can you give us a time-saver of the day?

I carry a water bottle and I work close to a bathroom.

#15 Where do you see your industry in 24 months?

I see it continuing to grow and get better and faster. I see the platforms providing more analytics, with databases to retrieve advice for what to do with the analytics which will, of course, help us improve and grow.

#16 Where were you 24 months ago?

I was putting myself through college, working full-time, and building my house. I didn’t get any sleep but it was all worth it in the end!

#17 What’s an interesting fact about your company?

Our CEO played in a national sports league. He played as a professional footballer, a game that is brutal and competitive in my opinion. He does the job of CEO very well.

#18 If you could have a 24- minute Skype chat with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?

This is a question that’s easy for me to answer. Abraham Lincoln. He’s a hero of mine. He made it a point to overcome weaknesses and had an endearing habit of honesty.

#19 What’s one word you’d want people to describe you with?

Charitable.

#20 Would you mind taking a selfie for us?

Uhhmm… Can I pass on that? *Samuel kindly sends, refer to above*.

#21 What’s your favourite Twitter handle or social media campaign?

I love facts so I follow this social media campaign @FactsNeverKnown

#22 What’s one quote that defines your work ethic?

If you never do what you’ve never done, you’ll never be what you want to become.

#23 What’s been the best part of your day so far?

You know, it is still early but I had a good breakfast. I was pretty excited about that! I had some fresh fruit and some cereal.

#24 We approve. Finally, anything to plug?

Yeah! Nuvi! Truly Nuvi is the only social media analytics platform evolving into a social media suite. Not just modelling, publishing or channels, but all three.
