And the reason that Pinterest Predicts is so important when planning your social media campaigns is that each year Pinterest let you into their search data. You can even filter by audience (for example, Boomers, Gen X, Gen Z, Millennials), demographic and gender to really drill the data down to complement your own target audience.</p>
<p>Yes, a lot of the trends featured are pretty niche, but many of us can use the trends to a greater or lesser degree to both plan campaigns and inspire content.</p>
<h2><strong>How can Pinterest Predicts help with social media campaigns?</strong></h2>
<p>First things first, take a look through the Pinterest Predicts report. If there’s something in there that relates to your industry, get ahead of the trend and start thinking about <em>and</em> shouting about that trend on your socials right now.</p>

<p>If nothing else, and no niche fits, then at least have a little flick through Pinterest Predicts: you may be surprised by the inspiration you can take from it. Use the trends to inspire your campaign aesthetics; style your social media photography in this year’s Airy Styles trend, for example, or use All The Raves for the colours for your social media templates. Just remember that with every trend, it is only a trend that works for you if it suits your brand and your target audience.</p>

But <a href="https://24fingers.co.uk/promote-your-pins-on-pinterest/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Pinterest</a> is giving it a damn good try. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It&#8217;s evolved from its early incarnation of a pin-board site into a sophisticated, smart platform that has more than earned its e-commerce stripes, turning engaging and eye-catching content into shoppable products for discerning <a href="https://24fingers.co.uk/email-sign-up/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">customers</a> and bringing marketers flocking to its door. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Understandably, Google isn&#8217;t taking the competition lying down and has launched <a href="https://staykeen.com/landing" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Keen</a>, a web and Android app that offers users a &#8220;place to grow and share your interests with loved ones&#8221;, according to a blog post from its creator, CJ Adams. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;You say what you want to spend more time on, and then curate content from the web and people you trust to help make that happen,&#8221; Adams wrote. &#8220;You make a &#8216;keen&#8217; which can be about any topic, whether it’s baking delicious bread at home (Ed&#8217;s note: sourdough, anyone?), getting into birding or researching typography. Keen lets you curate the content you love, share your collection with others and find new content based on what you have saved.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you&#8217;re thinking it sounds a LOT like Pinterest, we&#8217;d say you&#8217;d be right, but there is a little more clout to Keen. It draws on the might of Google Search and the latest in machine learning to identify content related to users&#8217; interests &#8211; something that could potentially be very useful for marketers. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Keen isn&#8217;t the first crack Google has taken at Pinterest, in fact it&#8217;s been rolling out tools and features mimicking the platform for almost two years. Whether it&#8217;s genuinely hit on something this time around only time will tell, but we&#8217;ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this new kid on the <a href="https://24fingers.co.uk/social-media-training/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">social media</a> block. </span></p>

<p><b>Putting a Face to a Name </b></p>
<p>Social media giant Facebook is taking yet another gargantuan sprint forward in the tech race – new super powers (AKA algorithms) that would help put names on faces, even if they are completely obscured.</p>

<p>This super savvy feature will include facial recognition, identifying people based on their clothing and even their posture. In a statement issued by the company, the feature has the ability to “recognise the entire population of Earth”. Impressive. Also a bit creepy.</p>
<p>In addition, Facebook is rumoured to be rolling out advanced technology that will use pictures to sell people products based on the info provided. For example, if a user posts a photo of them hiking the Andes mountains, the tech can recognise this and strategically place adverts for waterproof boots on their Facebook page.</p>

<p><b>Pinterest Gets Snappy </b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Web and mobile app Pinterest have only gone and stepped up their game, once again. With plans to make it easier for users to search and discover favourite pins, the site has now added the ‘</span><a href="https://24fingers.co.uk/the-billion-dollar-filter-war/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lens</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">’ feature to its landing page – a search and visual discovery tool.</span></p>
<p>If you spot something out in the world that immediately catches your eye (a swaggy pair of shoes, even cinnamon sticks if they strike your fancy), you can tap open the Lens camera on Pinterest, snap a photo and find related #inspo in an instant.</p>

<p>Google+ is not about to left behind in the quest for world-wide social media domination. Keeping up with their competitors, the site underwent a couple of cosmetic changes, introducing a swanky update to their search bar.</p>

<p>Sounds dandy, but what’s the catch, you ask? Snapchat&#8217;s new On-Demand geofilter themes are currently available on their website…. with a price tag. Depending on the size of the geofence and the duration of the event, costs can vary anywhere from $5 to a whopping $100,000.</p>

<p>Whilst Instagram and Snapchat are involved in awkward conflict, popular image-collecting site Pinterest is busy making tech history.</p>
<p>Out at a restaurant? Love at first bite? Pinterest will give you a way to snap a shot of that sinfully delicious dish you ordered through its ‘Lens’ feature, and lead you to recipes related to it (like the Shazam for food). You can then save those recipes and start experimenting at home! What’s more, the site is also introducing MORE filters to its recipe searches. Users can now fine-tune their culinary experience, from the amount of time it takes to prepare a dish to those that contain specific ingredients.</p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>Ta-ta, Trolls! </b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Beware of the internet trolls: they&#8217;re everywhere. With a lot of spare time on their hands, they manage to lurk around all forms of social networking websites like slimy parasites, ready to post inflammatory remarks at the click of a button. In fact ‘trolling’<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>has become such a modern phenomenon, it even has it’s own Wiki page… </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">But, in an attempt to battle this online harassment, Twitter is delivering not one, but three new anti-troll tools. In a recently published blog, the site announced that its new features will be rolling out in the near future, the most practical one being a filter that hides “abusive or low-quality” tweets by default. See you never, trolls! </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">And that’s not it &#8211; Twitter is also hunkering down on its hoard of online bullies by limiting new account creation. Its algorithms will be able to identity people who have been permanently banned from the site, and will ban them from creating new accounts. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Twitter should have probably thought about implementing these changes a long, long time ago…but better late than never, right? </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>All *Hail* Facebook </b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Continuing on its thundering path to world domination, Facebook has introduced yet another new feature. The social media service is giving all users the ability to check their local weather forecast anytime, anywhere. But wait, aren’t there phone apps that already do that? </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Not the first time Facebook has stolen ideas and sold it as its own, the newest feature began rolling out on Wednesday, on both desktop and mobile. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">The weather feature will default to a users current location, but simply tap the ‘Settings’ button at the top of the page to add a new location (i.e. that tropical getaway you booked to get over the January Blues). </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1"><b>Pinterest Lens </b></span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">If a picture is worth a thousand words, Pinterest is a gold mine. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Hot on the heels of its last update, the photo sharing website has plans to launch yet another spanking new feature &#8211; this time, a ‘Visual Discovery’ tool. Using artificial intelligence, Pinterest Lens allows its community to “use the camera in the app to discover ideas inspired by objects you see out in the real world”. </span></p>

<p class="p1"><span class="s1">How it works? Users can open the Lens function, snap a picture of whatever catches their eye &#8211; like a pair of shoes that you need in your life, or maybe a swanky chair that would look really good in that home office of yours &#8211; and immediately see a plethora of related images before them. </span></p>
