Social media has been going for gold this week as the Olympics gets into full swing…

Adam Peaty’s #OlympicNan

The medal for most adorable nan has to go to Mavis this week, as her grandson Adam Peaty made waves in the news by breaking the world record for 100m breaststroke and winning Team GB’s first gold medal in Rio.

Her overwhelming support for Peaty was too cute for the internet to handle, and we have to say we are pretty impressed with her use of emojis. Go Mavis.

A selfie to make history

There aren’t many selfies as important as this one. Two Olympian gymnasts – North Korea’s Hong Un-jong and South Korea’s Lee Eun-ju – put politics aside as they posed together for a quick yet momentous selfie.

Don’t mess with Michael

Michael Phelps’ might have become the most successful Olympian of all time this week, but that didn’t stop him of terrifying the internet with his ‘game face’ whichΒ quickly become a sensation in meme form… #PhelpsFace

Touchy-Feely

We’re loving watching the Olympics coverage this week. And it appears that Rebecca Adlington and Mark Foster are having quite a nice time of it too. Bless.

The pair have since denied being anything more than friends and made light of it themselves, but that hasn’t stopped the internet from doing what it does best.
